Don’t print those “Trump 2028” hats just yet. President Trump shot down rumors he’s eyeing a third term, telling “Meet the Press” Sunday that running again after his current term is up is “not something I’m looking to do.”
🚨President Trump shuts down the idea of a 2028 presidential run:
“It’s something that, to the best of my knowledge, you’re not allowed to do. There are many people selling the 2028 hat. But this is not something I’m looking to do. I’m looking to have four great years and turn… pic.twitter.com/bEjqCoqqYc

“It’s something that, to the best of my knowledge, you’re not allowed to do,” Trump stated plainly, acknowledging the 22nd Amendment’s two-term limit. Despite some supporters pushing the idea, the President made it clear his focus is elsewhere. “I’m looking to have four great years and turn it over to somebody,” he added.
While kiboshing third-term talk, Trump didn’t shy away from other hot topics. Discussing the border situation, he raised questions about guaranteeing due process rights for every single person in the country, including non-citizens, pointing out the mind-boggling logistics of potentially millions of trials. Still, he assured his team would follow the Supreme Court’s lead.
On the economy, Trump pinned recent sluggishness, like the first quarter’s 0.3% contraction, squarely on the previous administration’s policies. He doubled down on his tariff strategy, suggesting levies on foreign goods, especially from China, might stick around permanently to boost American manufacturing. Despite the dip, he remained upbeat about the economy’s direction.
Looking ahead to who might carry the MAGA mantle in 2028, Trump floated a couple of names without making any official endorsements. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were mentioned as strong possibilities. Trump stressed the importance of keeping the White House in Republican hands after his term concludes.
