Upstate New York school officials got caught red-handed using taxpayer resources to push anti-Trump protests on staff, forcing the district to issue a groveling apology.

Administrators at Saugerties Central School District, along with the teachers’ union president, reportedly blasted out emails trying to rally the troops against President Trump’s policies. Looks like they forgot school emails aren’t their personal political soapbox.
After getting called out, the district scrambled, admitting the emails were big “errors in judgment.” Superintendent Kirk Reinhardt tried to smooth things over, insisting the district is totally neutral and shouldn’t be promoting political activism. Yeah, right.
Reinhardt promised the district is dedicated to an “unbiased” environment and that steps would be taken to make sure this doesn’t happen again. We’ll see about that.
This isn’t the first time Saugerties schools have waded into controversy. Back in 2021, a teacher stirred outrage with a journaling assignment focused on George Floyd, leading to accusations of pushing a woke agenda and calls for the teacher’s firing. The district eventually tweaked the assignment.
Now, with President Trump pushing for more “patriotic admiration” in schools and less woke nonsense, incidents like this show exactly why parents are fed up with educators using classrooms for political games. The district says it wants neutrality, but actions speak louder than carefully worded apologies.
