In a remarkable effort to advance the Great Commission, a vibrant Christian coalition has successfully established over 200 training hubs around the globe, aiming to mobilize pastors and leaders for an increasingly urgent mission. James O. Davis, the visionary behind the Global Church Network (GCN), believes that this initiative is key to bringing millions to Christ by the end of the decade.

The roots of this ambitious endeavor trace back to a fateful snowy day in Missouri in 2001, when Davis felt a divine prompting to create a network tailored for pastors. Inspired by the mission of spreading the Gospel as instructed by Jesus, Davis and his team are racing against the clock with a target of fulfilling the Great Commission by 2030.

“What we say in the ministry is that we all have a role in the goal,” Davis shared with enthusiasm. He elaborated on the vision, stating that “the goal is the Great Commission; the goal is that everybody has access to the Gospel.” The movement, known as FINISH 2030, took off in 2017 at Martin Luther’s graveside in Wittenburg, Germany, where over 600 leaders gathered to commit themselves to this cause.

The year 2030 holds special significance, as it marks both 500 years since Martin Luther’s pivotal contributions to Christianity and the 2000-year anniversary of the Church itself. This correlation underscored the urgency of Davis’s mission, leading to the decision to launch the celebration in Jerusalem, scheduled for June 9-11, 2030.

Recently, GCN hosted the FINISH OCEANIA Summit in Suva, Fiji, which brought together thousands of ministry leaders from 22 island nations and territories. Given its geographical challenges, Oceania reflects the very heart of GCN’s mission—sharing the Gospel even in the most remote communities. Davis sees incredible potential in areas like these.

Davis’s network has already forged collaborations with over 2,750 Christian ministries and 700,000 churches, highlighting a substantial foundation supporting its ambitious plans. Since the establishment of GCN, thousands of spiritual leaders have been trained through the Global Church Divinity School, addressing the overwhelming need for equipped ministers during a global resurgence in faith.

The organization’s goal includes opening 800 leadership training hubs by 2030, an initiative designed to empower one million ministers worldwide. Notably, their recent hubs have sprung up in South Africa and the Balkans, expanding an initiative that first took root in Manila in 2012.

In a unique approach, these hubs are not just spaces for learning but are designed to cultivate community and leadership. Each hub engages with local pastors and leaders over a two-year period, offering training alongside opportunities for discipleship and networking. Once the program is complete, these hubs aim to multiply, thereby creating a ripple effect of new leaders.

“A net is made up of little nothings tied together,” Davis explained. His analogy highlights the importance of relationships in building a fruitful ministry, emphasizing that it’s essential to cultivate strong ties to effectively catch a “harvest.” With this grassroots approach, GCN hopes to ensure that each hub serves a practical purpose in spreading the Gospel and equipping leaders.

Excitement buzzes around the initiative as they prepare to tackle the complexities of evangelism in various regions, illustrating that their mission is not only bold but deeply rooted in community and collaboration among believers worldwide.
