Things got heated on CNN’s “NewsNight” when conservative commentator Shermichael Singleton laid down the law on illegal immigration, only to face a bizarre comparison from Ana Navarro. Singleton didn’t mince words, stating plainly, “If you come to this country illegally, you are going HOME!”

But Navarro, known for her emotional takes, tried to muddy the waters. She shot back, claiming many people, “other than the black people who were brought here as slaves,” came here illegally. Singleton immediately shut down the comparison. “They are NOT the same as black people who were brought here against our will!” he declared, making a clear distinction Navarro seemed to miss.
Navarro appeared visibly upset, seemingly fighting back tears, insisting, “That’s exactly what I just said!” But Singleton wasn’t having it, delivering a pointed retort: “Last time I checked, I’m black. You’re not.” Navarro then tried to pivot, claiming, “I’m Latino and my people are being racially profiled!” The fiery exchange got so intense that host Abby Phillip had to jump in and cut to a commercial break to cool things down. The moment quickly blew up online, highlighting the stark divide in how different sides view immigration and history.
