The shocking claim, linked to a Transgender Day of Visibility event, immediately sparked outrage and calls to yank funding from the Bronx-based school.
While details about the alleged “passing” workshop remain murky and unconfirmed by the university itself, the accusation alone is raising eyebrows, especially when compared to how other schools marked the day. Nearby Pace University, for instance, held a simple cookie-decorating session, while Rochester Institute of Technology hosted an open mic night.
The controversy puts a spotlight on the university’s finances, particularly since a reported 98% of its students receive institutional grants, averaging nearly $30,000 each on top of any federal aid. Critics argue taxpayer dollars and tuition fees shouldn’t fund events promoting controversial gender ideologies, especially workshops seemingly focused on altering appearances to conform to gender stereotypes.
Whether the event happened as described or not, the online furor highlights the growing tension surrounding gender identity politics on college campuses, leaving many questioning what exactly is being taught behind university walls.
