Top Democrat James Clyburn thinks his party has a messaging problem, and guess who he’s blaming? The media, naturally. The South Carolina congressman whined to MSNBC that the Democratic party’s message is actually sound, but outlets like The Washington Post just aren’t portraying it fairly.

Clyburn griped that media outlets focus too much on narratives that grab attention instead of balanced reporting, leading to voter confusion. This finger-pointing comes just as a brutal Gallup poll dropped, showing public confidence in Democratic congressional leaders has absolutely tanked. Only 25% of Americans have confidence, a steep nosedive from 49% back in 2021. Meanwhile, Republican leaders are holding steadier at 39% confidence.
Despite the grim numbers, Clyburn insists the issue isn’t the message itself. His grand plan? Hit the road for town halls to “clarify” things directly with voters and try to bypass those pesky reporters he believes are misrepresenting the party’s wonderful initiatives. Good luck with that.
