Women and children seeking safe spaces at the YMCA are instead finding themselves exposed to predators and perverts, a shocking string of recent incidents reveals. In Xenia, Ohio, a biological male who identifies as a woman allegedly exposed himself to minor girls in the women’s locker room, leading to charges.

Darren Glines, 31, who goes by Rachel but hasn’t had surgery, faces three counts of indecent exposure after complaints poured in about a naked man in the female changing area. The YMCA of Greater Dayton defended its policy, stating they don’t check birth identity and assign locker rooms based on how individuals identify.
But the horror doesn’t stop there. Across the country, YMCAs seem to be magnets for disturbing behavior. In East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, registered sex offender Abidan Rivera, 42, was busted for allegedly snapping photos of a woman showering. Cops nabbed him thanks to surveillance footage, and he’s now facing serious charges.
The sickening discoveries continued in Chicago, where Michael Porter, 58, earned a hefty 22-year federal prison sentence. His crime? Secretly recording thousands of videos of nude boys in YMCA locker rooms using hidden cameras. Authorities found over 46,000 images and videos, including footage of Porter abusing at least one child.
Meanwhile, in Indianapolis, 18-year-old John Deramus II was charged with voyeurism. Cops say he admitted to filming women in multiple YMCA locker rooms after being caught entering the women’s changing area repeatedly. Police found videos of nude women on his phone.
And down in Raleigh, North Carolina, Brandon Tyrell Stringfield, 26, was arrested for indecent exposure. A woman reported finding him masturbating in the women’s steam room near another woman who was asleep.
While YMCA organizations insist they prioritize safety and are cooperating with law enforcement, this nationwide pattern raises serious questions about who is being allowed access to vulnerable spaces and whether policies designed for inclusion are putting women and children at risk.
