OU Crowd Roars for Riley Gaines: Is Change Coming?

Riley Gaines, the former swimming star turned fearless advocate for women’s sports, drew a massive crowd at the University of Oklahoma this week, proving her message is hitting home. Over 600 people packed the room Tuesday night for the event hosted by the campus chapter of Turning Point USA.

Gaines, who famously tied with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas and spoke out against the unfairness, is on her “Fight is Far From Over” college tour. She’s taking the fight directly to campuses, talking about protecting fairness, safety, and integrity in female athletics under Title IX. Since taking her stand against the NCAA letting Thomas compete against women in 2022, Gaines has become a leading voice demanding single-sex sports be preserved. She now heads up the Riley Gaines Center at the Leadership Institute.

Photos from the night showed long lines of students eager to hear Gaines speak, while the usual protesters gathered outside. According to the student paper, the event wasn’t just a lecture; it featured a debate and a Q&A session, giving attendees a chance to engage directly on the hot-button issue.
