Former vice presidential candidate Nicole Shanahan baptized as she embraces Christianity

A former vice presidential candidate has made headlines after announcing her baptism as a Christian, a significant shift following years of practicing Judaism.

Nicole Shanahan, who was Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate in the 2024 independent campaign, shared the news in a recent post on X.

Despite Kennedy dropping out and endorsing President Trump, the Shanahan-Kennedy ticket still managed to gather over 750,000 votes nationwide, capturing about 0.5% of the total popular vote.

In her heartfelt X post titled “My Baptism Story,” Shanahan reflected on a transformative experience she had one night in January, where an overwhelming feeling washed over her while comforting her daughter.

She described this “heaviness” as something palpable, recognizing it as a presence that prompted her to bow her head and pray.

Her journey toward Christianity reportedly began after experiencing a “heart-wrenching loss” in her family four months prior, a topic she chose not to delve into.

Shanahan then met Diane Robinson, a deeply religious figure who provided spiritual guidance and prayers after her loss, which helped her move closer to Jesus.

After feeling compelled to get baptized, she reached out to Robinson the day after her emotional breakthrough.

The baptism took place in her backyard on January 19, just a day before the presidential inauguration, performed by Diane and her husband, Peter, who hold titles of “bishop” and “apostle.”

Shanahan recalled a poignant meeting with Diane, who guided her through the Bible, sharing verses that resonated deeply with her during a difficult time.

She wrote about the emotional struggles many face, highlighting that the pain brought on by life’s challenges can feel unbearable.

During this transformative experience, Robinson assured Shanahan that Jesus had the power to cleanse sins and overcome darkness, a sentiment that struck a chord.

Shanahan admitted that while she had always believed in God, the reality of spiritual battles was something she had not fully acknowledged until recently.

Reflecting on her family background, she shared her father’s struggles with addiction, which made her reconsider the existence of more profound spiritual battles.

Her time in the political arena opened her eyes to the injustices faced by many, waking her to the idea that life involves battles beyond the physical realm.

Shanahan emphasized the reality of spiritual warfare, noting that experiencing trauma can bring clarity to the good versus evil struggle present in the world.

She firmly believes that demons exist and sees Jesus as the divine protector against them, comparing her faith to being enveloped in a comforting cocoon.

With a rich history of spiritual practices, she previously converted to Judaism in 2014 but has now shifted her prayers entirely to Jesus, whom she views as the essential link to a higher power.

Having the New Testament in hand has changed her perspective, allowing her to perceive the spiritual struggles in a new light.

Shanahan ended her post with a message of hope for those seeking answers, encouraging them to persist in their search for meaning.

Her final words resonated with the sentiment that faith involves trust, not just knowledge, conveying a sense of belonging for those who find their way home to faith.

The post even included a meaningful quote in Latin, stressing that without divine guidance, all labor is in vain.
