Pastor arrested in Las Vegas with drugs and guns while seeking daughter

In a perplexing turn of events, David McGee, the founder of Cross the Bridge Ministries and senior pastor of The Bridge Christian Fellowship in North Carolina, found himself at the center of a law enforcement investigation during a trip to Las Vegas. His initial intention was to save his daughter, Ashli, from the city’s notorious underground networks, commonly referred to as the Las Vegas Tunnels. However, his mission took an unexpected twist when police discovered drugs and firearms in his hotel room at the Strat Hotel Casino & Tower.

On August 20, McGee, 61, reached out to authorities, claiming a personal item was missing. Upon arrival, police learned that he had flown to Las Vegas on a private jet, explicitly stating it was to locate his daughter who has been struggling with substance abuse. Beyond his daughter, McGee also has two adult sons, Johnny and Ben, who he has kept in touch with throughout this ordeal.

Upon investigation, officers were shocked to find an AR-15 rifle equipped with a scope in McGee’s possession, which initially raised concerns about a potential mass shooting plan, harking back to the tragic 2017 attack by Stephen Paddock. In addition to the firearm, authorities revealed that the pastor also had fentanyl with him—allegedly intended for his daughter. He reportedly stated, “McGee advised [the detective] that he brought the fentanyl from North Carolina on his private jet to Las Vegas and paid approximately $1,000.” His intention was reportedly to distribute this substance to Ashli when he managed to find her.

Just days before his arrest, McGee took to Facebook to share his heartfelt intentions with his followers, expressing his determination to rescue Ashli from the dangers of addiction. He made a plea for prayers, fearing potential interference from those around her, including her husband. “Pray that nobody gets in between me and her,” he declared passionately, suggesting he was prepared to confront anyone standing in his way, all while aiming for a resolution that wouldn’t cause harm.

Adding another layer of complexity, McGee has openly shared his struggles with addiction in the past, describing himself as a recovering drug addict and a heart patient who has experienced two heart attacks and multiple minor strokes. His efforts to fight against the substances endangering the youth were evident in his statements about declaring war on heroin, fentanyl, and other dangerous drugs.

Nine days later, despite the chaos, hope emerged when McGee’s wife, Nora, provided an update on his progress. She mentioned that David had made contact with Ashli and was cautiously optimistic about the situation, though her evasiveness was a cause for concern. Nora appealed for prayers for her husband’s health, wisdom, and discernment as they navigated this troubling situation, hoping for a resolution that would lead to Ashli’s recovery.
